The New York Times reported yesterday that Apple and Google are now in a mobile maps war. It will surely bring more than just bruises. Apple announced last week at its developer conference that it would build its own maps service and terminate its agreements to use Google Maps on the iPhone starting this fall.
Here’s the real ouch, though, as reported in the New York Times last week by Nick Wingfield and Brian X. Chen: The Android platform may be outselling the Apple iPhone by two to one with all the Android-based smartphones out there, but Apple has the loyalty of mobile app developers. Developers are in short supply.
